On February 2nd, 2010, let's celebrate World Wetlands Day
World Wetlands Days has been celebrated for the past ten years in order to commemorate the day the Convention on Wetlands of International Importance was signed on February 2nd, 1971, in Ramsar, Iran. There are 37 Ramsar sites in Canada, including four in Quebec. Lake Saint-Pierre boasts the largest site, with 12,000 hectares of wetlands. To learn more about the importance of the St. Lawrence River's wetlands, please consult the fact sheet and Environment Canada's Web site.
