During phases II and III of the St. Lawrence Plan, a veritable community came into being, focused on collaboration and environmental action on issues specific to the St. Lawrence ecosystem. This community is made up of environmental and community groups involved in carrying out action and ecological rehabilitation projects; a network of 14 ZIP (priority intervention zones) committees, coordinated by Stratégies Saint-Laurent, bringing together various local players focused on collaboration, action and local problem solving; and members of the Biosphère’s ObservAction Network.
These community organizations are the preferred partners of the St. Lawrence Plan. They are the driving force behind the coordination mechanisms and public involvement in projects for protecting, conserving and promoting the St. Lawrence in various Quebec regions.
This section explains how community involvement has changed since the early days of the St. Lawrence Plan, tells you about the Priority Intervention Zone Program, describes the priority intervention zone committees (ZIP committees), their work and accomplishments, and the various funding and technical support programs made available to the community organizations to support their actions.
In this section, which is under construction, you will eventually be able to access all available information for all the priority intervention zones, which resulted from the division of the river into sections when the ZIP program was first being developed during phase I of the St. Lawrence Plan.
