St. Lawrence Plan Coordination Committees

Coordination Committees

The St. Lawrence Plan is divided into components, each of which addresses a different priority area. Each Coordination Committee is responsible for one of these components and has the mandate to ensure the achievement of results in the corresponding priority area. The functions of the Coordination Committees are to plan and carry out joint and unilateral activities, track progress, and issue communications regarding their priority areas. All of this work must be done on the basis of a consensus among the members of each Coordination Committee.

The Coordination Committees are as follows:

  1. Agriculture
  2. Access to Riverbanks
  3. Community Involvement and Awareness
  4. Ecological Integrity
  5. Navigation
  6. Monitoring the State of the St. Lawrence River

Composition of the Committees

Each Coordination Committee is composed of persons who have the required expertise in that committee’s priority area.

Each Coordination Committee consists of:

  • two Co-Chairs who represent the governments of Canada and Quebec, respectively; and
  • members from partner departments/ministries within these two governments.

Representatives of other government and non-government agencies may be invited to participate in a Coordination Committee’s meetings, with its members’ common consent.
