Dozens of decision, hundreds of projects, thousands of concrete gestures benefiting the river: that’s the result of the 20 years of achievements of the Canada-Quebec agreement on the St. Lawrence! This intergovernmental agreement, which has materialized through four successive action programs, celebrates its 20th birthday in June 2008. In fact it has been the same program for 20 years, divided into four phases: firstly called the St. Lawrence Action Plan, before becoming St. Lawrence Vision 2000, for 10 years, then the St. Lawrence Plan (SLP) For a Sustainable Development, since 2005.
The list of achievements we present here does not constitute an exhaustive inventory. Rather, it is an overview of the most significant results which have been achieved in each of the areas in which the St. Lawrence Plan intervenes. For more complete information, please access the SLP web site, specifically the annual and five-yearly reports which have been produced throughout the duration of the program.
