7:00 p.m. – The Youngest River on the Planet The St. Lawrence-Great Lakes ecosystem was born barely 3,000 years ago, even though its bed in a tectonic plate dates back 50 million years. This ecosystem alone makes up 20% of all the Earth’s fresh water. Archaeologists have shown us the life of its initial users, the Aboriginals, the Bretons who came to fish for cod and the approximately 900 Basques who went whale hunting there in the 16th century. Place: Auditorium of the Musée de la civilisation |
