Highlights

During the 2019-2024 period, for the species and sizes studied, mercury levels in fish flesh occasionally exceeded Health Canada guideline, while perfluorooctane sulfonate (PFOS) levels frequently exceeded the criteria for the protection of piscivorous terrestrial wildlife set by the Ministère de l’Environnement, de la Lutte contre les changements climatiques, de la Faune et des Parcs (MELCCFP). The levels of other toxic substances remained below the criteria and reference values for human consumption.
